Two saguaros anchor the scene — one of them towering with the presence of a teacher or sentinel, affectionately called The Wizard. Nestled among the prickly pear and jojoba, a cactus wren watches from its perch, and palo verde trees arc gently in the background. Every mark and brushstroke was made with intention, using sepia India ink and Van Gogh watercolors, then reproduced on textured cold press paper to retain the feel of the original.
